My name is not important for this story. What is important is the truth I carry, the scars I bear, and the fight that still burns within me.
"Not Without My Son: A Shadow Pandemic True Story" is my memoir, a testament to a life irrevocably changed by trauma and systemic failure.
For five long years, I have lived with the weight of what happened. Three of those years have been a relentless struggle to rebuild a life shattered by the "shadow pandemic".
My son and I were left homeless after I escaped an abusive relationship.
While Domestic Violence Support Services offered me shelter, they denied refuge to my son!
This forced us into a broken system where rigid criteria left us without housing support. My son’s mental health deteriorated, and we became invisible—our cries for help met with silence and indifference. No one acknowledged our pain, offered an apology, or extended even a small gesture of compassion for the trauma we endured.
The systemic failures that abandoned us then continue to overshadow our lives, serving as a constant reminder of the injustice we faced.
So, I wrote to reclaim our story—our truth, our resilience, and our legacy.
